Dance
Feel the energy
Feel the joy
Feel this oasis
Feel our elation
This
Is our temporary escape
This
Is where it is safe to hide
From the gunshots
From the bad words
From the bitch slaps
From the discrimination
That we all feel
And under these
Rainbow
Colored
Lights
That remind you of disco
As if it was more than necrosis
Frozen in time
These lights
Are a
Testament
to being colorblind
To the color of skin
Where I see blacks
Dancing
With whites
To the flavor of love
Where I see
Girls
Kissing
Boys
Holding
Each other
Boys
Transforming
Beautifully
From the burly
Beauties they never were
To the
Magnificent
Starscapes
They were born to be
From the shy
Ash
Of women they never were
To the
Handsome dancing
Casanovas they have always been
But nobody has seen
We escape under these
Orange
Green
Blue
Purple
Red
Yellow
Stars
Shining on us
The starved
For love
The beaten
Out of hate
The forsaken
Because we chose to live
Not to die as a lie
Some say we choose this life
Yes
We do
We choose
Not to be you
We choose
To love ourselves
To be honest as hell
To bleed for being
Lesbian
Gay
Bi
Trans
Intersexed
Queer
And one color that everyone is
Loving
We choose to dare
We choose to dream
Against a still unjust world
Over
Two
Hundred
Years
After we defeated oppressors
Who chose to belittle us
As their own kin
We STILL
Defy what's wrong
The injustices of love
We are free to be
But we are not free to
Marry?
Not free to have the same rights
To say that our girlfriend
Or boyfriend
Beat us in a moment of anger
We have to put more at risk
If we stand up for ourselves?
We need to file assault charges
Against someone we said those
Three
Precious
Words
to if we need help
Rather than domestic abuse
in over
Fifty
percent
of this country
where all
men
and
women
are created equal?
What makes
Us
So different?
We bleed the same blood
We cry the same tears
We laugh the same laughs
We are your people
We are white
Black
Tan
Red
Stained
with the sins we are guilty of
The sin of loving who we love
But you are free from sin?
You can walk into a pew
And not have people
Stare
At you
For loving your boyfriend
Or girlfriend
So why can't we?
If I marry as I am
and I legally marry a woman
And then am legally considered a woman
The marriage is invalid
Unless gay marriage is legal
but for you to marry
someone that
you
love is perfectly ok?
Don't we bleed the same blood?
don't we fight the same wars?
Dont we both need to be sure
that the person we slept with
is going to be there every time
we wake up
and if something should happen
To them while we can't protect them
shouldn't we be able to not worry
about how we are going to pay
The bills
if we were careless enough
to at the age of
Twenty five
or two hundred and five
not write our wills
before we are killed?
This all happened before
This was a race war
When one man had a dream
And one man made a promise
that all people
white or black
Could have the same opportunities
and not be forsaken
or mistreated
based on the color of their skin
So why
Fifty years later
Are we still fighting this fight
based on the color of our love
And the color of our skin?
Feel the energy
Feel the joy
Feel this oasis
Feel our elation
This
Is our temporary escape
This
Is where it is safe to hide

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
