Hi all. I currently live in Michigan, but because of a 2nd domestic violence incidence with my soon to be XH, I am hoping to get emergency funds to go to Colorado. My sister lives near there, says that I should be able to get a lot of help because of the bases. I'm legally blind, honorably discharged, tried for VA benefits, denied because my medical records were never found, so there is no service connection with my disability. I have 2 kids with me, need to be near a bus line because I can't drive. Somehow need to find housing on my SSDI income. I can stay with my sister and her husband for a while, but she's got 2 small kids in a 3 bedroom house, add me and my two and it's not going to be long before we're underfoot. Any suggestions on programs, housing based on income, etc? My sister called the Col. Springs housing authority and they have a 3 year waiting list for disabled. I can't stay with her that long, I can't stay here.

My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...
