OK, it turns out to be a baldfaced lie that you can buy this stuff at any health food store. If I purchase some I will need to make a 30-mile drive to the big city or order it online. And frankly I'm suspicious. The one time I ate it, back in '81 this was, a friend sprinkled it on some popcorn and it tasted terrible, like wood ashes or maybe dustbunnies. I am struggling with the idea that this is the wonder ingredient used to replace cheese and meat in vegan recipes. Can anyone share some positive nutritional yeast experiences? How does one actually get the stuff to taste like cheese? Or meat?
