Hey there... Does anyone else have to wear a wig daily because they pulled all the scalp hair out? I have to...I am lucky to get a good deal on a really nice wig. But spending 170 a month on hair is getting too expensive. Anyone else in my boat? I hope so :(

HI lwanttolo! I know how you feel! Several years ago my pulling was so bad that I had to resort to a wig. It was horrid....but....hang in there because there is hope! Like you said it got very, very expensive and then it was annoying, too! Not to mention you always have the thought in the back of your mind "suppose it falls off". Eventually I got a custom made hair piece that was glued on. It covered the top of my head and the front, back, and sides were my own hair. The hair stylist that I got it from is four hours away from where I live and I had to go like every month. This got expensive too. Anyhow, with it glued on it helped me to ease up on the pulling and eventually I got enough hair that I could go "natural". I still pull but not nearly as much as before. (The last several months have gotten worse and I now have several bald spots that I am trying to cover with my own hair). So....just hang in there....there is hope! Take care! Catzz

My daughter has trich, and we were almost there a year ago. She has very thick, wavy hair, so for years we could cover the bald spots with her other hair. However, it was getting to the point that there was so little on the top and sides that I was seriously considering getting her a wig or a hairpiece before she had to start jr. high. She's been on Clomipramine for a year, and all of her hair is back! It's still short on the top and sides, but it looks like she just got sort of a shag cut that's longer in the back. (A few months ago it was more like a mullet!) So yes, trich definitely can get that bad, but there is definitely hope out there also...

I do wear a wig and I love it. It can get itchy and hot sometimes but it takes away the shame of going out in public half bald. The only thing is that you sometimes stop working on beating trich with the wig. You need to address both the hair pulling even though you have a beautiful new head of hair. Good luck, you'll love it!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
