I just read a post by mnmjenn about sharing our secrets and felt compelled to start this post to help other people.
I haven't been on this site for very long but I have had a lot of people ask me how I told my husband. We had been dating for 3 months when I knew we were in it for the long haul. I agonized over sharing my secret with him. I basically told myself that this would make us or break us. Why would I want to be with someone who couldn't accept me for who I am? I basically sat him down, told him what trich was and let him ask questions. He asked me how long I had been pulling and what kind of help I sought for it.
My husband only gives advice when I ask. I told him up front that telling me to stop pulling if he sees me doing it just aggrevates me, so he doesn't. What he will do is ask if I am alright. That helps me alot. He will wash my hair for me, which I absolutely love! He is patient with me and listens- I couldn't ask for anything more.
I hope and pray that if you are in a relationship that it is a healthy one that you can feel free to share without shame.
Please share your story and add your advice for others to help them to be able to share with their husband or boyfriend. I hope this helps.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
even now, when people are comfortable with me to ask me in a serious manner, i tell them the truth. i'll never forget when i told a lady at work who gave me a wide eyed look and explained how she had pulled her eyelashes out for nearly her entire life. i gave her a closer look, and sure enough, there where sparse patches (she obviously controlled it better than i did at the time..) it really helped me not feel so alone in the world...
You guys rock! x
A word of advice: if your spouce/sig. other tends to be sarcastic, belittling, controlling or abusive, don't share. Only share if you have a solid foundation and feel confident of their support and love for you.
It's my prayer that all of us will have at least one face-to-face person that we can tell.
Anyways, I also agree with the other poster to not tell an SO who is sarcastic, belittling/abusive. It depends on your situation. For me, telling my husband was a very big relief and created more intimacy in our relationship. We are tighter because of it. Good luck everyone!
