I've been picking at my split end since I was about 8 or 9. I'm now 42! I've stopped for periods.. especially when pregnant, no ends, healthy hair. I just am sick and tired of it. It wastes so much time and I'm embarassed by it. Any, pickers out there??
Thanks!
Thanks!

i have been obsessed with pulling apart split ends since i was about 4, and i'm 31 now. if i try to run an errand or something when this is really bad i will usually get stuck sitting in the car for two hours pulling my spilt ends. eventually, i will be able to stop and get out of the car and run my errand, only to return to the car and get stuck sitting there for another hour pulling them again. i also contantly do it at red lights, and always have people honking me because i am only looking at my hair and not paying attention to when it turns green. the other day i was in line at the drug store and could see all these enormous split ends on the girl in front of me, and thought i was literally going to die if i couldn't pull them apart. just thinking about it now is making my skin crawl off my body. so... i understand.

Picker and puller. Not of split ends though. When I was in grade school/junior high I was a skin picker. I can still remember my mother... "stop picking!" I tiny scabs all over my upper arms. Then in H.S. I started pulling lashes and the skin picking stopped and the scabs healed. But every now and then I crops back up, usually when I have no lashes left to pull and the urge hasn't been satiated. It sucks.

I have been splitting ends since I was 10. I'm now 47. I have stopped at times for a couple of years but 2 years ago I bought a magnifying mirror and really sharp tweezers and I do it for about 2 to 3 hours a night before I go to bed. It's like I can't go to bed until I do it. I too, have seen other people with split ends and have had to sit on my hands! I'm so glad to see others have this obsession.

I pull out my hair mostky, but I seek out my split ends and rip them in half, which is sooo unhealthy for my poor hair. But tomorrow I'm getting it cut, so no more splits to rip for a bit, only pulling. I hate it though, and I get embarrassed bout it. Especially when I have guests over and have to sweep up my tumble weeds.

My hairs in pretty good condition so no splits, but I used to do it for hours. I'd rather split than pull

I feel like the odd one out. I never even think twice about the split ends, I just get it cut. It seems like most everyone else pulls on their head or face, but I only do it to my hair down there**... I guess I am so ashamed I don't want any proof showing?

Even when I cut my hair, I find my split ends. I use a mirror so I can see them high up on my scalp. How sick is that!!!

It does help to keep your hair trimmed, but honey I will MAKE split ends if I have to. SERIOUSLY! Now, I have found the car is the worse place for me to, and sitting in the mornings in my recliner drinking tea when I am SUPPOSED to be sitting there to have my morning prayer/Bible study time. So, a while back I asked myself what was the common factor. LIGHT! The sunlight it perfect for letting me really see the split ends and my recliner sits next to my window. So now when I go out and about or sit in my recliner first thing in the a.m. I pul my hair up extra tight with a clip. This doesn't always stop me completely but it does make it easier.

I've been doing the same thing for a year. Every time I do it I say "LAST ONE!" but that never seems to be the case. I just started going to a psychologist because, like you I'm tired of it. I'm starting Prozac so I dont become anxious when I try to stop. If you suddenly "pick up" your hair to do it, stop and do something else instead to ease your stress of not doing it. I say the alphabet backwards twice so by the time I'm done I'm not anxious and I almost forget about it. I'm starting the Prozac tomorrow but hopefully it will work.

I used to go through my hair seeking split ends and pulling them apart. That is so damn unhealthy for your hair but I was amazed and obcessed with doing so.

I have been picking since my i was 18 years old and now i am 22 yrs of age. I feel helpless, i want to stop but i cant seem to. I also have gotten honked at, at stop lights for picking my hair and when i see other women with split ends it drives me nuts and i want to pick theirs so bad, i'd have a field day with it. Some of my hair is uneven esp. in the front and now i cant even put up my hair with out fly aways because of the damaged i have done.

I always go through my hair to find split ends. I always like to find the ones that have a lot of splits on one strand. I once found one with twelve on it. I hate it because I know that is the reason my hair is frizzy at the ends. Yet I will leave my split ends there, and I don't cut my hair as often as I should. I also like to find the little breaks in my hair as well. It's something my mom used to do, and apparently I picked it up from her when I was little. My grandma always points it out when she sees me at it.

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
