Hi all,
i was reading something on a random trich site from the Uk and they mentioned that diet can radically alter the way that trichsters behave. This study was saying that most trichsters expreience itchiness and irritation due to a skin yeast called Malassezia, and if one eats the right kinds of food (ie; those that don't further bring on this skin yeast) then it could aid in stopping pulling. While i agree that this is only one step in stopping, and needs to be done in conjunction with other techniques, it could interest many of you who are trying so hard to stop.
This thing says that a high protein diet is the way to go. Limiting carb intake and increasing protein could help control the urges. It says that foods like fructose, oranges, apples, lemons, cherries, garilc, onions, kiwifruit, limes, ginger root, Red wine, guava, pineapple, mustard, cabbage, papaya, unsweetened live yoghurt and beef are the GOOD foods for trichsters to eat.
The BAD foods are: Glucose, egg yolk, caffeine, chocolate, tomato seeds, nuts (esp. peanuts), MSG, alfalfa sprouts, most shellfish, soy products of any kind, butterfat, peas, beans of any sort, fatty fish (tuna, mackeral, salmon) and nitrates.
i know that on the bad list are all the delicious things to eat, but its just a thought. anything is worth a shot isn't it :)
Hope that helps someone. i'm going to give it a go... after our housewarming party this weekend that is :) hey, at least red wine is one the list!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Sugar and caffeine and the foods that have them are bad for pulling. A lot of hair pullers say so.
