My son starting showing tics at 2 years old. He hasn't been officially diagnosed with TS. He started blinking to begin with. Now he has vocal and motor tics. The pediatrician said he may have transient tics. I'm worried about school. He's in 3rd grade and seems to be struggling. The teacher said he will completely zone out in class. He's been diagnosed with ADHD, also. I don't know what will help him. The teacher will be having him evaluated to see what they can do about getting him extra help at school, so he won't feel so rushed. I've given him meds for ADHD, but the tics worsened. I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem with the school system. He can do the work and I know he's really smart, but he needs the extra time for when he zones out. I don't want him labeled as LD when I know he isn't. What's the best way to handle this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
