My jaw used to lock when eating, my jaw would lock close for a few minutes at a time. At the time I thought it was permanent, and would panic. Also when I would go to the dentist I couldn't open my mouth verry wide. Does this have anything to do with TMJ?

I have been here before, a long long time ago and now I am back.Forgive me for not just saying what I want to say, even under a triple dose of antidepressants it is still raw and seeping and I am hesitant at revealing it as at least under the bandages around my heart I don,t have to look at how raw and wounded. My child was cleaved from my heart by his own actions. my child of ten, turning eleven...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
My chiropractor has adjusted my TMJ multiple times, and that helps, but it doesn't cure the problem.
He said he has seen patients with TMJ whose jaws have locked closed... and whose jaws have locked open!
I kept thinking about how horrible it would be not to be able to open/close my jaws at will, especially after I had the "limited opening" situation.
TMJ can cause the jaw to do so many things and it can be very painful
I wonder if a warm moist wrap for your jaw, like the bed buddy, would help keep those jaw muscles relaxed so that it does not lock as often for you. I am sorry you have to go through this.

I haven't had my jaw completely lock up, but just about. What really worked for me to losen up the muscles, and open up the mouth was a heating pad.
First on the neck for 5 or 10 minutes, on hi and then directly on the side that is hurting. Losened mine up completly, just a small amount of soreness after that.
Good luck,
Kathy
