Dear all,
I just wanted to share how I've coped with tinnitus over the past 4 years or so.
I'm a musician and gained my tinnitus due to noise exposure. For the first couple of years I reacted badly, and fought with the onset of anxiety and depression. I used to mask my t at night time with white noise when it was most intrusive.
I won't give up playing, wearing ear plugs has enabled me to carry on. But inevitably due to my work and despite precautions, my t has continued and even increased - however, I no longer mask it at night at all, and can even read a book in complete silence with my t ringing loudly as it DOESN'T BOTHER ME.
Adjusting your attitude is the bottom line to freeing yourself from tinnitus - it took years for me, and I believe this only really happens over time and comes about gradually - but it does happen. I now view my t as an occupational hazard and don't regret my actions at all.
With love,
Kate

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
There does come a time when you can't remember what life was like before the noise - this is what I've adjusted to and this is what has brought me relief.
I think I've gradually re-tuned to accept my tinnitus and perceive it as normal.(sorry for getting a little pyscho-analytical !)
I hope this thought might bring some comfort to those who have just recently got tinnitus.
