I have read in the US sites about it .
Does anyone in UK have any information/experience on it ?
Apparently it started as a treatment for divers and found to be benificial for Tinnitus sufferers as well .

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

HBOT is an interesting form of therapy, but it's little sited in context of tinnitus cures and treatment to my understanding.
"In conclusion, hyperbaric oxygenation seems to be a moderately effective additional treatment in the therapy of tinnitus after primary hemorheologic therapy, provided the time from onset of tinnitus is less than 1 month."
Ok... so does this suggest GP's should be rushing T patients into HBOT chambers as soon as they report tinnitus? If it's within 6 months, I think they should. Do I think it will cure my tinnitus? Doubt it. But these facts and studies are so little known. As always, its up to us to do the research. Thanks for the post Madona.
I'm going to give this a shot myself after reading what I have, if I can get partial coverage.
PRO: it involves very little risk and can benefit more than just the ear.
CON: If you're in states, it could be costly.
I will try for it
thanks for the link .every research found helps srenghen the arguement for referral .
"In all other 50 studies evaluated here with a total of 4,109 patients suffering from idiopathic sudden hearing loss, acoustic trauma or noise-induced hearing loss and/or tinnitus, HBO therapy was administered as a secondary therapy, i.e. following unsuccessful conventional therapy.
"If the onset of affliction was more than 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks, 4% no longer experienced tinnitus, 81.3% observed an intensity decrease and 1.2% an intensity increase of their tinnitus condition. 13.5% remained unchanged (fig. 2).
"If HBO therapy was administered later [than 6 weeks], but still within 3 months following onset of affliction, 7% no longer suffered from tinnitus, 44% reported an intensity decrease, a similar percentage noticed no change, and 5% a temporary worsening of their tinnitus condition."
OK, we knew all that, BUT HERE'S THE INTERESTING PART:
"If the onset of affliction was longer than 3 months up to several YEARS, one third of the cases reported an intensity decrease of tinnitus, 60-62% reported no change, and 4-7% noticed a temporary intensity increase (fig.4)."
So I'm just wondering whether later studies conflicted with this last part (about the years) or whether the odds of success are just so small for the cost (33% chance of success for $100-250 per session, if I recall correctly what I've read about cost) so people are hesitant to try it. And I forget: are there even places in the US that do this for T? (None of the places around me would do it for T or would even try when I called them at the onset of my T.)
Anyway, I just found these statistics interesting and wondered how valid they are these many years later.
I am in Los Angeles.
My doctor also claims that you need to do these treatments, within a short period of time, after your T starts.
A friend of mine, had a light case of T, she did the chamber, and her T went away. I think it's worth trying.
