I have had a "whooshing" in my right ear for about 9 months. Sometimes it is unbearable and other times it is just plain annoying. But it is always there and only in one ear. I also have lsot the hearing in that ear.I have been to see numerous ENTs, I have done accupuncture, cranio-sacral therapy, chiropratics etc. The thing that has been most effective for me at reducing the "whooshing" and quieting it a bit has been to take the following:
400-600 mgs of grape seed extract per day (3x a day with meals)
480 mgs of magnesium (1x in AM with Calcium, 1x after Dinner w/Calcium and 1x at bed time with 100 mg 5-HTP)
I also take Ginkgo 2x a day (120 mgs each), CoQ10 1x a day, multi vitamins, essential fatty acids etc.
I exercise 5x a week and have been for many years and I always take supplements.I am great health except for the ear thing. But I have found that by adding more magnesium and the grape seed extract it has really helped. My audiologist could not believe it. Even though I am a candidate for neuromonics, she told me to hold off and keep doing what I am doing to see if it will get better on its own.
I wanted to share this info because if the answer for even one of you is to simply take a coupel of pills a day, isn't it worth it?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I'll try the grape seed extract this week. I should be able to grab some over at Whole Foods.
Again, thanks for contributing purely for sake of helping others. That means as much as anything else. Many just cruise posts for something that may benefit them. No prob with that, just very nice to see a post like yours! take care.
