Get an audiological work up - any high frequency hearing loss? That is the number one reason for tinnitus - number one on their list - and it is usually in the pitch you lost - some people get good hearing tests back - but they lost the highest frequency a human ear can hear and the tinnitus is in that pitch - the brain reacts to the loss by trying to basically produce it in the audio cortex.

sound therapy did wonders for me - I have a public journal about it - you can click on it and see what I went through to get the sound to lower.

They may scan your head for tumors - but when it comes back negative - they say, "well, you'll get used to it." If you can't get used to it - read my journal - only because sound therapy is about all they offer - but two new drugs are going to market in the US around 2012 - maybe you will benefit from that.

A good place to start would be anti-depressants. They can help you ignore the noise or sometimes reduce the volume. There are so many different types. Talk it over with your doctor. A Family doctor might be limited with what the can prescribe.

Mandi, I have the high frequency hearing loss. Since I know that I have that much, what would you expect one can do to find any relief of their t, short of TRT.
