Problems with short term memory

Ever since I had my thyroid removed I have had the worst time with my memory. I have to write everything down and literally for get what I am talking about right in the middle of a conversation. this is so embarassing that I hate to talk to strangers or meet people because I am afraid my head will act up. I also have a terrible time stuttering my words at times. this is all new to me since I had my thyroid removed in april 07. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

The brain fog often happens when you are hypo. I have bad bouts with it myself when my meds are off. I had a lobedectomy and will get my completion on 1-3-08 and I noticed the mood swings and forgetfulness and stuttering. I was taking Sam-E and I think I'll get back on it. It helped me before. It's a natural alternative. Your liver makes it and if you eat right you don't need it, but I know I haven't been eating right. It also helps with arthritis and sore joints.

Please. you are not alone. When I had to go off Synthroid to have a body scan i could not speak clearly. i could not finish a conversation . A Pastor asked me if I had been drinking. I replyed. "Have you?'It will get better. god bless. David

i to have had the "are you druk" coments too!! ask your doctors to run some more thyroid function tests.. you may need your dose increasing!!! xx

i had brain fog before my tt and am still getting it now. i forget everything. lol.... its a way of life with me now. some days its not as bad as others, but it definitely gets worse when i'm tired.
maybe your dose does need to be adjusted. you best ask your doc. sorry i cant help any more.
try not to stress tho cos being aware of a prob is half way to being sorted.

When I was in hypo, I would have to ask people to repeat themselves 2 or 3 times s-l-o-w-l-y in order for me to comprehend. I didn't go anywhere without pen and paper. It will get better :-) hugs, cherry

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
