I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I know that before my Neck Dissection I was told there was a chance that the Jugular could be damaged but that if it was there are enough other veins to support the brain without it.
I sure hope all goes well my Prays are with you.

I had both of my jugular veins removed when diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1966. I am living proof that one can live without them. (Smile) However, it hasn't been without grief.
After they removed the first one everything was fine. When they removed the second one, my face swelled to the point no one could recognize me. The doctors said it would probably never return to normal and it hasn't. However, to most people it doesn't look bad. But to me, it has been a life-long challenge to keep my spirits up. One thing about cancer survivorship...life is never the same.
