I am looking for advice from anyone who has Hashimoto's and has had a partial of total thyroidectomy. I want to know, if I have the surgery, what life will be like after. How will it be different~better/worse? etc.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? I had total thyroid removed April 4. At that time they found out I had hashimoto with my papillary thyroid cancer. I went for RAI treatment on 5-6. I have not started thyroid meds yet. I begin them next tues. I know I will be on these meds the rest of my life. I didn't have any trouble until my Dr found the lump in my thyroid and the biopsy came back cancer. I hope everything is going to be better. The surgery went very well with little pain. THe RAI pill has caused me more pain. Because it is attacking left over thyroid tissue and this is a little sore and my face was swollen for a day. I am still in the recovery process so if you have any questions just ask. I hope I can answer them. Kim
