I have been through 2 doses of radioactive iodine...one last year and one the year before. The second one was easier than the first because one one important piece of advice, which at first glance seemed absolutely impossible to follow. I was told that when they took me off my thyroid, it was crucial that I stay active as long as I could before being dosed. I could not believe that anyone expected this of someone being given no thyroid meds, but I was told to get out and walk as much as I could tolerate, even if it was little more than strolling. I had a good friend who showed up every morning and coaxed me off the sofa and into my shoes. She patiently listened to me explain that there was no way I could go and then she bundled me out the door and got me walking. I felt sooo much better for so much longer, till the few days before dosing, when it really did become impossible, but I recommend getting the help of a very good friend and get up and out there walking.
