I have 4 GIGANTIC houseplants (2 rubber trees, 1 croton, and 1 dieffenbachia), and I need to do some serious pruning but am not exactly sure what is "safe" to do. The internet tells me a variety of things, ranging from "just do a bit" to "only leave 4 inches"!!
I totally mutilated the dieffenbachia today, and I've got some of the cuttings so they can root and I can stick them back into the pot to make it a little fuller. It was collapsing on itself, and just not looking too happy. I just hope I didn't chop off too much!
Anyone with good plant experience? I need all the help I can get! hahaha

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

The Diffenbachia will root better if you keep it humid. The Ficus (rubber tree) won't root, it needs to be air layered, too hard to explain. With the croton, you usually just pull off the dead leaves.
If you trim them, make sure you leave some of the brown area on them.
Now, give them a nice drink, and some VF-11. It's a foliar feed you can find anywhere. Mix a little in with your water bottle and mist on the leaves. It won't burn them. Do it once a week.
Got it?
