Hey Meg. I am praying for you.It is good that you come to peace with your decision before the surgery, instead of after, like me. LOL. I had no time to come to peace with it, it was just kind of pushed on me as if i did not get it i would be paralyzed, so not very many choices to choose from.I am sending you healing thoughts and praying for a fast and smooth recovery for you.Since you are going through the same surgery as i had, feel free to ask me any more questions after the surgery, regarding the healing process.God bless.

Hey, Finally feeling better. My surgery was Feb 10th everything went really well, Dr said my spinal cord was under so much pressure from the blockage that it was good that we decided to place the shunt. Dr said shunt placement went really well and he removed 3 vertebre. Recover was going well and I was discharged Sat Feb 12, however i was readmitted Sunday Feb 13th with a severe CSF leak, I was orderd to be on flat bed rest until Tuesday Morning Feb.15th when the Dr went back in to operate on my CSF leak. I was then in the hospital for the remaining week on flat bed rest and dishcharged Sat Feb 26th, recover has been slow but steady, each day I am so thankful I still have full mobility, 100% use of my arms and legs which I was terrified b4 surgery of becomming paralyzed. I don't feel the shunt itself,but it was incredibly painful process. mainly i feel the 7 inch incision healing and all the muscles in my upper back felt terrible, my neck had to build up strength to support my head b/c when Dr went in for 2nd surgery he removed another vertebre, so I am missing 4 and he did not replace them with anything but muscle. He says it allows his patients full mobility! everyday has been a little better and i get a little stronger, I am so happy I had the surgery, I am not feeling any of the numbness or tingling in hands face or feet like b4, so to me thats success... thank you for all your prayers.

Hey ,that is great news . I am glad everything is going well for you . I don`t know about the removing the vertibrae though .Sounds like it could make it kind of weak . But like we have all said every one and every doctor is different in their treatments . I am just glad you are doing better . Keep in touch .

Don't you guys miss STARLIGHTGIRL. She had her surgery, had problems with CSF leak and then vanished.

I wonder how is she doing.
