A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

The EMS joked at the hospital after his TIA that we should have not more big events. Two months after becoming engaged my Husband went to the hospital with chest pains and ended up having a double bypass. Now six weeks into our marriage he has suffered a mini stroke.
On Oct 25 he called me from his office speaking gibberish, I immediately called 911 and had him taken to the hospital. By the time EMS had arrived at his office he was fine, he was speaking normal and thinking clearly. He was released from the hospital on Sat and less than two hours after his release was again speaking gibberish and was right back. He was released the following Tue, the Dr's said he has 100% blockage of left carotid and right vertebral. He has Wernicke's Aphasia, and is very determined to overcome.
Is there anyone out there who has gone through this... I need some hope.
He is a Family Law Attorney and is now unable to work, he is in fear of losing the house.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I remember that night. I went to bed with a headache I just thought it was PMS so I went to bed early.
I woke up at 3am and stumbled over my husband to the bathroom.
He got me dressed and I went to the ER of the hospital.
3 years later I can walk but with a cane.
My work provided LTD (long term disability insurance) and the country's pension plan gave me disability insurance
I am not working LTD pays for 60% of my income
The most important thing is he survived.
My advice is to take out a small loan.
It could be awhile before he works again
I was 36 when it happened, I am now 47; still married too.
Yes, having a stroke is a major life change, but it doesn't have to be an ending. I know it's scary; please know that you don't have to feel alone in this. (There are so many of us out there.)
I know it can be hard but try to look on the better side and things always have a way of working themselves out.
