I have been reading about people being hospitalized for numbness, This is what I have learned because it happened to me. 2 years ago, I was having numbness on the left side of my face, it slowly traveled up to my eye then went down my left side to my arm and to my leg. I started getting scared, I thought it was another stroke. I had my daughter bring me to the ER and they admitted me. I was there for 4 days, my head would ache, on 1 side and then in the back and would just travel throughout my head it was really weird. My neurologist came to see me and explained to me I was having complex migraines, they travel in your head and will cause numbness in the extremeties. I asked him how am I suppose to know the difference between these migraines and a stroke......He told me, a stroke will be instant numbness, not gradual traveling numbness, that is a migraine. However....if your not sure, better safe than sorry....Go to the hospital.
