Stroke Support Group
A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

This has been a hard week for us, and then I go to ds and find other people are going through the same thing. My discussion is based on stroke. People/friends/family/acquaintenaces where are their brains? Many people will remind me that my husband is brain damaged, his speech is not good, he repeats himself, his short term memory is not good, and that he will never be the person he was the day before the stroke. DO THEY NOT THINK THAT I KNOW THAT,WE LIVE WITH THIS. I decided today that I am only going to look that the triumps!!he is alive, I love him forever, he is my hero. We choose to fight with everything we have, this month it is 2 years ago. God has blessed us with so many wonderful things, including a future, is it perfect? No, could it be worst? yes a lot. We are shooting for the stars, we take nothing for granted, we look at everything differently.
This week was so dissappointing for us, Ralphs hero is the neursurgeon, when we went to see him, he was very clinical, Ralph was so excited to see him to show him how much he improved that his speech was off, I think his brain was full of everything he wanted to tell him, and could not listen to the questions that the doctor was asking him. He asked him if after excersising did he notice a limp in his right leg? Ralph just said he was back to normal, the answer to the question was no! there is no limp after excersising? the doctor then told Ralph that it was wonderful that he felt back to normal, but that other people would see and hear the fact that he wasn't and that the effects of the stroke are there for all to see.
Why do people insist on reminding us? do they think that we have forgotten? I just scream inside myself to tell all those people who think that they are helping to look at what a miracle he is and to cheer for all that he has accomplished? why can't they celebrate that!!!we do

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Congradulations on your improvements, good days and even the not so good, it's a miracle that he's still living and with us!
It's a shame that people find out who thier real friends really are... during the tuff times. just know that you are in all of our thoughts and prayers.
do not let a doctor bring you down. all a doctor understands is what is in a text book..
we all are living the life after a stroke and this life is not in some text book..
Doctors, themselves, seem to just move on...and sad but true of so many others!
Wishing you the best in the next few days/weeks and getting through the end of a difficult, but positive year!
