A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

Hello everyone! I had a stroke July 07 and for the past 2 months I have been having awful headaches. I have had headaches in the past but these are very different. The headache always starts and stays around my temples but the pain is sharp. They are very painful and I am curious if the stroke could cause this. I will also get very sleepy when this happens. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same/similar thing. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had bad migranes for as long as I can remember, but they did get worse after my stroke and since then I get these sharp pains in my head. My son also gets sharp pains we call them brain pains. Sometimes we will get headaches with them but not always and sometimes we get tired if we get a headache after it. I don't know why they happen they just do. You may want to ask your doc. though in case it needs investigated further. My sons neuro. always says if anything changes or new things happen to let him know.

I will see my doctor on Friday and I will tell him about the headaches. Maybe he can prescribe something to stop them before they start. Thanks for listening.

Hello everyone! After visiting my doctor it looks like I am having migranes again. I use to suffer with them as a child and it looks like they're back. The doctor did give me medication if I need it for the headaches. Hopefully, it will help. Thanks for all of your help.

I had suffered from migraines in the past, but they had all but disappeared (for YEARS) until I had my stroke. Then, I had at least one per week for quite a while. I was told it was stress from worrying about my stroke. I seem to only have them 2 or 3 times a month now.
