This weekend my husband and I went to do our wonderful taxes. As we were there, I knew my answer ahead of time but I decided to ask anyways. I asked about the tax credit for babies. I knew I wouldn't get it because my son was born still, but I just thought I would check and see. Since then I can't help but think what a slap in the face it is for all of us. It's not about the money at all. I want the recognition that every other mother gets. It would be nice to know that my child was recognized as a human being. That listening to his heartbeat, seeing it on the monitor, and feeling his movement is proof that he was alive. I understand that this ties in to abortion laws and such, but then I feel like I am being compared to a woman who had an abortion. I can't get over the fact that only some states offer a birth certificate. All states should offer it to us. I gave birth to my son like any other mother with a living child did/does. I would like to write to my congressman and try to change some laws and such but have no clue about how to do this. I would also like to find some statistical information pertaining to the number of stillbirths that have taken place in my area. Again I have no clue where to find this information. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I noticed even my ob/gyn office didn't know much about where I could get this information. Shouldn't they have to record it somewhere? If anyone has any information or ideas about how to find this info. please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you all for letting me vent!
