Step Families Support Group
Traditionally, a stepfamily is the family one acquires when a parent enters a new marriage, whether the parent was widowed or divorced. This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.

Hi I'm new to this community but should have joined it a long time ago. I guess my story for today as the rest is just too long to go into right now is that I have a stepson with no boundaries. He brings friends over whenever he likes. He doesn't inform anyone, particularly me before he does this or makes plans. This was supposed to be a 'family day' as my husband was to have a day off from a p/t job he's picked up but he decides to tell me at 2.30 that he's going to work a few hours this evening. I now have a stepson running around who might just show up with 5 other boys and a husband who doesn't understand why I'm angry. It's $22-30 that he'll earn over these hours he could have spent with me. I'm just very frustrated. Am I just overreacting? (this isn't a new pattern as my stepsons behavior doesn't bother his Dad) Thanks everybody.
(Yes. I've been with this child since he was 8, he's now 15. I've been with my husband for 7 years). Again, thank you.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Anyway, your step son NEEDS to have some boundaries and your husband needs to help. Your step son seems to be testing how far he can go and it will only get worse if you do nothing. The problem is if you and your husband arent in agreement over this your step son will know and will walk all over you. Even though your husband is ok with his sons behavior, he should take your frustrations and concerns in consideration and you and your husband need to come up with some kind of compromise. Good luck! You are not alone.
I think you should just put your foot down. When he arrives with unwanted friends tell the friends that must leave.
And make sure your tone of voice is appropriate.
If the father allows him to do what he pleases regardless of your feelings your problem is not with the son.
