My 9 yr old step daughter has been having trouble breathing..It occurs when something really stressful happens to her. The first time we noticed her hyperventilating was when she was on the big bouncy blow up thing at an event and it malfunctioned and deflated....then soon after that she went to the school nurse on a day she was crying wishing her parents were still together (they havn't been together for 9 years). She has been asking lots of questions about why her mother and I don't speak...I try to explain it as best I can but it seems that she may be having anxiety or panic attacks...is this possible? We are making an appointment with a therapist but any advice on how to explain why a stepmom doesn't speak to a biological mom would be appreciated (other than the fact that her mom is crazy and in trouble with the law). Thanks so much.
