Hi! I just joined. I am almost 19 weeks pregnant and just found out we are having a girl. She will be the sister to 2 older but very young brothers (currently 20 months and 7 months). I just found out that our baby girl has spina bifida located in the T12 L1 ? I know that is a pretty high lesion. I am feeling overwhelmed. I think alot has to do with also having the other young children. I was just hoping for some encouraging words, support, and helpful recommendations. I also have seen alot about this MOMS Study. I haven't really done any research, but has anyone actually participated in it? Thank you

I am actually a T-6 lesion person and at 38 there have been many challenges but I have mage it pretty good. I went to public school k-12 then 2 years of college getting my Assoc. I now hold a full time job. As I age I am having more bladder and bowel issues because both were very effected by the SB. As I was growing up I loved barbies and playng with my older brother. I grew on a farm and was around many farm animals. I messed with them some but there was always an able bodied person there to help me control them. As a teenager I loved make up and dreaming about boys. In other words I was pretty much normal, that would be my best advice treat as normal as you can

I have L4,L5, S1 spina bifida. I've had my ups and downs but I went to public school as well, got my associate degree and now have my dream job. Keep coming here for support and ask lots of questions. Welcome! Cathy

Im not sure what # my lesion is, but it's pretty low. I am 31 yr old male...consider myself VERY lucky....until the past 3 months, I have not had SB keep me from doing ANYTHING (Ski, mtn bike, hike, drive a car, hold a full time job, live on my own, get married). Just stay positive and find out anything and everything you can! And the people here are wonderful too! :)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
