Here are instructions for obtaining the payment center telephone number that pertains to your specific Social Security Number. This will be important to you AFTER you have been approved for benefits, so you may want to print this out. NOTE: All the telephone numbers referred to below are not toll free. So you can incur toll charges and long distance changes when calling depending on your location. So if you are budgeting, please keep toll/long distance charges in mind. BEFORE CALLING, re-read the directions and make sure you have a pen and paper ready to write down the direct dial number that is specific to your social security number and that you remember the first 5 digits of your Social Security Number:
Dial 410-965-8882 OR 410-965-0607 and follow the prompts
Press or say "1" for Social Security Program Info (and takes you to new menu)
Press or say "1" Social Security Disabilty Matters (and takes you to new menu)
Press or say "1" to be able to enter your social security number (SSN).
When requested, press the phone keys to enter the first 5 digits of your SSN
The system will then say something like "For future reference the direct dial number is ______" (and it will then tell you the specific telephone number and you write it down for future use).
If you need that number repeated, press 1, if you want to be connected to that number, press 2. (In the future, you will dial it directly and not go through all this.)
