Hallo,
I am 55 years old and have smoked forever and a lot. I am ready to quit smoking and have my Chantix ready to go.My start date is 4-29-08.
My son died 9-28-06 and I am on Prozac. One of my concerns is the depression aspect.
I have read the literatures on the Chantix but I feel people that have taken Chantix would be more help to me then anything I can read. I am open to any and all suggestions and advice. Thank you.

ihart I quit using chantix I can tell you it definately worked with me. I'm not sure how it reacts with depression and certain drugs but if you read old posts I have seen it mentioned recently I think people have been okay with it. Good luck with your quit. I am sorry for your loss

ihart I also quit on chantix. I have several past quits on using other methods and then I had depression. Chantix works on a totally different part of the brain and if anything I think if prozac is working for you it would only help your quit even more on chantix. The biggest thing is take it with food and a big glass of water! Good Luck :)

Hi ihart, I read you profile and I am so so heartsick for your loss! If you want support with your quit please feel free to add me to your friends......As for Chantix check with your doc as to mixing it with Prozac. The Chantix was a miracle for me!!! I smoked for 43 years and was able to stop by coming here to DS and the Chantix. I was not able to stop right away, but kept taking the Chantix anyway but it finally "Took" I am off cigs. for almost 17 months!!!!I got a little upset tummy but it passed. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.... Sandy

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
