The CDC claims that nicotine is a "very addictive drug" that can be "as addictive as heroin or cocaine." Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. If you are trying to kick the habit, this community is dedicated to giving smokers the...
WARNING - CHECK THE BOX OF NICODERM!

I had an overdose of nicotine yesterday because I didn't know exactly how the numbers went for the nicoderm patch. I know this sounds stupid but I started last time with a 2 strength. For some reason I thought the 1 strength was the lowest dose, put the patch on and went to work. Within 1-2 hours I was puking profusly, sweating, anxious, heart palpitations. This went on for 1 1/2 hours and I finally went to a clinic to make sure I wouldn't have a heart attack!
I was so worried. However, if you do find yourself in this situation, take off the patch ASAP and wash the area with WATER ONLY. The doctor said it was a good thing I did that. They had to hook me up on EKG and check the pulse-ox levels and take and re-take my blood pressure.
I realized on the way to the clinic I got the wrong strength, it was the strongest 21mg and I basically overdosed on it. It took about 10 hours for me to get back to somewhat normal. Make the clerks at the store you buy this product help you decide what strength is best for your smoking habit. Good luck to all of you and quitting. I feel I'm done with it now after yesterday. I never want to feel like that again. Ever! Will keep you posted.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I am such an addict, I have done really dumb stuff. I wore the patch and chewed gum.
Also, I wore the patch and would sneak cigarettes.
The second time I was at the hospital; they questioned me at length about being suicidal. I was not trying to kill myself; just trying to quit smoking. You have to be really careful how much nicotine you put into your system; it can poison you. Also, be very careful about throwing away gum or patches; because pets can get ahold of them and get poisoned. Thanks.
My daughter helped by throwing away my remaining cigarettes so I could not light one up.
I hope you still try not to smoke. The chantix seems to have kept me calmer. I am on day 3 with no chantix now. I am day 20 with no cigarette. This board has helped since I am not alone doing this here. Good luck with your quit!
hope others who is using some
kind of aid to quit smoking will check and recheck before they start it. All has side effects. Take care
