Hi!
I quit january 12th this year and haven't had a single puff since. And I love it and enjoy it!!
My live has changed a lot since then and I am now happier, in better shape and thinner(!) and overall my life seems to be more in tune with my true personality than it has been before.
I really believe that any addiction is like a curtain, covering up your own true wnats and wishes and allowing us to tolerate a situation or a live (!) which we really couldn't tolerate if we were addiction free.
So in my opinion anybody who wants to quit needs to be ready to deal with live in a new way,
because after quitting the addiction you will see your live from a different perspective!
To hell with trying not to be grouchy, that's what it's all about!
I'm now divorced, working in a job I love (worse pay though), in great physical shape and with my 3rd boyfriend since the divorce (Sex is so much better since I can actually breathe!)
Anyways, I have tried to quitlots of times before this time. But this place and the people here have pulled me through.
Thank you!
Alex
I don't even think about Cigarettes anymore!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You are right, it does force you to deal with your life straight on and who you are without turning to an addiciton to help you through, I think it certainly does make us all stronger people.
Keep up the great work!
life for the better.Congrats!
A+ for you. Enjoy your life to the fullest, thanks for sharing
Thank-you and congratulations!
You all seem to feel a lot like I felt about this all.
Empowering is a good way to describe it.
Anyways, of course I meant that it is ok, or even neccessary, to be grouchy!
My favorite advice from this source here and whyquit.com
is to take it one day at a time and to never take a single puff.
And then one day I turned around and I was smoke free for 3 month and ok with it!
The other thing about weight loss:
I have put on maybe 10-15 pounds after I first quit but now I lost much more than that easily. So girls don't worry about it!
Thanks again, I will come back here anytime for all my future problems!
You are absolutely right about using cigarettes as a coping mechanism, then having to learn how to deal with life on life's terms after quitting. But dealing is much better than running and hiding behind a cloud of smoke.
Keep up the great quit, Alex. :)
Peace and blessings,
