The CDC claims that nicotine is a "very addictive drug" that can be "as addictive as heroin or cocaine." Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. it gets better

Yep, third day is tough. No doubt about that. But one thing to keep in mind is your on the threshold of having all the nicotine in you gone, out, flushed (unless you're using an NRT).
Have you rewarded yourself? Rewards are very important, especially in the early stages. They actually help repair some of the damage to the brain's pleasure/reward centers that the nicotine caused.
Rewards don't have to be expensive. Heck, they don't have to cost anything at all. Window shopping, a walk in the park, feeding ducks (ok, that costs a loaf of cheap bread), scenic route home, browsing a bookstore, whatever. All they have to do is make you feel good and they've done their job.
You are doing a fantastic thing for you and those who care for you. No matter what you feel, keep in mind that it is all temporary and it will not hurt you. No matter that it may feel that way, know that what you are experiencing is healing, not harm.
Don't focus on right now, Dalton. Focus on you as a non-smoker 3 months from now. Imagine yourself not needing that cig. Imagine no more burn holes in your clothes. Imagine not having to go out into the cold or rain for a smoke. Imagine not being bothered by that. Imagine relaxing after a meal and enjoying the company of those you are with instead of needing that after-meal cig.
You can do this, Dalton. I did it, so you can too.

Quit almost 2 1/2 years.
I just put quitting #1 on my list of most important things to do and I walked a lot. Get a craving...take a walk. I also taped some tv shows that have a continuing story. So for my down time I would just watch tv for hours at a time. I ate food almost non stop but foods that take a while to eat...hard candy popsicles..beef jerky... I just didn't care about anything else but quitting and it worked!! Now I am over a month and not eating all the time! I can relax now!!
You CAN do it. Just think of all the good reasons you quit!
