Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. When I was 22 I weighed 210 pound after having a c section for my daughter... 2 days after she was born I had a heart attack because of a blood clot that had formed in my lung and went to my heart... I was on life support for a week and in the hospital for 3 weeks... My Dr told me that I got sick because of the weight and the surgery( And smoking didn't help either) But my weight was a big issue at the time...So I lost 90 pounds and I have kelp it off till I turn about 39... Now I need to lose about 20 pounds...I dont want to gain any weight...I have failed at my quits because of weight gain... Is there any thing I can do to not gain weight...

I have heard that is is possible not to gain weight but you will have to work at it which may be tough as quitting in itself has it's own battles. You will have to do dedicated real exercise to raise your metabolism (smoking quickens it and it will slow down when you quit) and you will need to really watch what you eat. You can do it, but I think the quit is more important. I was terrified too of weight gain, but I delt with it, didn't gain too much and am now working on taking it off. Hugs and strength to you. ox Tikka

I have found that starting every meal with an apple really helps (or your favorite fruit).

all i can do is wish you lots of luck, one thing at a time is my saying, willpower is needed for both

The only thing I can say is keep doing what you are doing even after quitting. Smoking didn't make me stay thin...so I believe quitting and weight gain are two different struggles. If you eat things that are good for you and watch your portions and exercise you'll do okay. An apple a day is a really good thing and drink that water. I notice a big difference if I don't drink my water. I find tons of good information on WWW.realage.com

I am trying to channel my nervous energy into more walking, which might help. I've also traded some of my coffees for green tea, which is supposed to have some positive metabolic effects - just don't add a ton of sugar. In any case, we're with you in this along with everything else!

Can you put the money you're saving into a gym membership? Nothing makes me feel better than 45 minutes on the elliptical.

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
