If you are trying to kick the habit, this community is dedicated to giving smokers the...
hi! im a newbie....may i get some support plz?

hi all-im a 28 year old mom of 3 with moderate to severe asthma since childhood. ive been smoking on and off for the last 13-14 years and have only quit during breastfeeding and pregnancies...why i always pick back up is beyond me, 'cept im an addict and slave to the cigs. so long story short, ive been horribly sick the last week, in and out of the hospital, urgent care, docs office, etc. and the bottom line is im not getting any better even talking steroids (I.V., oral and IM) heavy fluids, breathing treatments every 2 hours, all day and night. ive missed a ton of work and feel terrible. there is an elephants fat ass sitting on my chest i think.
anywho, i will be the first to admit i LOVE smoking but since my body doesnt and i can live with myself leaving behind these 3 daughters of mine, im forced to quit. i went and bought a box of name brand nicotine patches and slapped one on this morning....I STILL AM HAVING HORRIBLE CRAVINGS! what the heck is up with that? i bought the step 1, for smokers that smoke 10+ cigs a day (i smoke about a pack a day) and since im already on the highest strength what else can i do?
i want to quit for the simply fact that im already being medically treated as if i have COPD and emphysema so i really need some encouragement, words of wisdom and kindness, prayers, etc. to help me overcome this nasty addiction. i love my kids and i want to be there for them...also i have a MAJOR surgery coming up in 2 months that will require major healing so i want to be smoke free for all of that. my timing isnt very good but i guess if you dont put limits on yourself, why ever do it? you all seem to be a great group as ive lurked around...please welcome me-the only commitment i can make to you all is to be honest and listen when you tell me things and give it my best shot! love to all, krissy

I've never actually eaten it myself. But it occures to me that we could probably solve world hunger if every spam post was a can of food...(...or maybe not...I've looked at it, and just have never been able to bring myself to try it.)

Hello everyone,i wanna use this opportunity to reach out to anyone out there facing infidelities doubts in their relationship, i was suspecting my husband cause his been acting up lately, but i have no visible evidence to proof his infidelities until i was introduced to this guy (almondhackingsatgmailcom) by a colleague at work.i now have a hold of my husband and we resolved the whole issue after...
I highly suggest you read Allen Carrs book (the online version is posted there) and get prepared. Like Cssmith said- being prepared and having a 'plan' is critical.
The support here on DS was MY last resort to quitting- I had tried everything else. I truly believe it saved my life.
What is your quit date? Let us know and we're here for you-
i also have a son. he was one of my main reasons for quitting. i want to be there to see him grow up but for me, i can't lay the whole quitting thing to just doing it for my son. i had to want to do it for me.
what i've been doing is drinking a lot of water, gum, spice balls which help tremendously. i've also printed up a positive list of why to quit and i even drafted up a letter to the nicodemon stating the reasons that i was quitting. i read those every morning and especially when i get a craving. it sounds silly but it helps.
i also journal a lot here and that helps. plan small rewards for yourself with the money you save; a new outfit, a salon treatment, something really special.
i do know that you will not regret it. i do know that it does get easier, minute by minute. just get yourself in the mind set of you are not going to do it. good luck and i'm here if you need me.
