Smoking Addiction & Recovery Support Group
The CDC claims that nicotine is a "very addictive drug" that can be "as addictive as heroin or cocaine." Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. If you are trying to kick the habit, this community is dedicated to giving smokers the...
Come here for support, or maybe there is a local smoking cessation group that can give you face-to-face support, if that's what you would prefer.
Read Beesley's post a few times, too. Let those words about the rewards sink in. They are very, very important to your healing process.
Oh, and about that "Hope I can hang in there"? No need to hope, girl, you are doing it. Just keep on keeping on.
Peace and blessings to you, golfgirl.

I've not made it to 5 months yet. But, I am finding tiny bits of light that make me believe my life is going to get better, and I can be happy without the constant "need to feed" my addiction. But, I do know where you're coming from.
As Beesley said, be good to yourself with this quit.
You really HAVE achieved a great thing!
And, no one understands unless they are going through it. Remeber I'm out here and take me out for a walk when you want to smoke and we can have a nice conversation. psssst ...don't let your lips move or you really will look nuts.
It is depressing. No one is supporting my quit now. I quit 97 days ago and the non smokers dont even give you an "atta girl" with a little pat. pbbbbbbbbttt to them.
It's amazing how the mind works! As Tselani said, we had a relationship with cigarettes.
Oh, and buy some flowers for yourself and a nice bathtub soak and remember: you don't smell like cigarette smoke anymore.
keep going!

to you. I also quit in June - on the 12th. I agree with Beesly -- you should read the posts regarding "Be 'GOOD' to 'YOURSELF,'" "Celebrating Achievements," "What R U Going to Do With All that $$," and "Non-smokers do not understand." Something I have that really helps me is that smoking calculator you can get at http://www.silkquit.org/. I have it on my desktop at work and it is the first thing that opens everyday. Today I learned that have saved $1,057.37 (can you believe that??) on $ I would have spent on cigarettes, I haven't smoked 3,240 (unbelievable!!) I would have smoked had I not quit smoking and I have gained 1 week, 4 days and 6 hours of life. I really like this it is where I get my pat on the back everyday. I did something for myself after I had saved $250.00. I have a friend who has beautiful crystal watch her boyfriend bought for her at Zales Jewerly store for her birthday. She told me it cost $425, plus 5% sales tax here in MA. Well, I did some searching around and I found the same watch at amazon.com for $229.00.
You can see the watch at
http://www.zales.com/search/index.jsp?sr=1&fbc=0&origkw=crystal+watch&kwCatId=&kw=crystal+watch&pg=3&kpc=1
it is the gold watch, the third watch in the from the left the picture really doesnt do the watch justice but I am so glad I bought it. Every day, every time I look at that watch I am reminded that I am a non-smoker and proud of it. Another pat on my back.
I hope this helps you and lets you know that you are not alone, there a lot uf us out her dealing with the same thing. Take care & again, congratulations. YOU DID IT!
