I am having a health problem that 4 different specialists are working on. It is an aspirating problem. It is as if I forgot how to swallow! But it is just very small particles of food, all liquids and small pills. The first doc I saw was my pulmonary. They sent me to the ER and they did tons of tests and ruled out everything they could on their end as far as my COPD goes and said it is most likley my acid reflux and to go to my gastro doc. So I went to my gastro doc. He is now in charge. He ordered a barium swallow test that isnt until the 9th and he told me to see the ear nose throat doc and he told me not to make an apt. but to let my neurologist know whats going on. hmmmm neurologist??? I do have a severe brain injury, so maybe I REALLY have forgotten how to swallow? Anyway, I went to the ear nose throat doc friday. He did his little tests then he did that awful scary one the ol scope down the nose to your throat!!! Ive had it done before and it was torture, but this guy was awsome! Cause as you know you really dont feel it, you just think you do. He was a cleaver guy, and he tricked me, he would lie and say it wasnt down there or this and that. And he had me say oooooh and aaaahhhh and eeeeeeeh it was kinda fun LOL and it was over just like that. Well he said there is nothing in his examination that has to do with my aspiration/swallowing problem. BUT: (oh before the but, I forgot to tell you that I have not been able to talk for about a month now, but I thought it was from all the choking and hacking) so the BUT he said, my vocal cords are severely damaged from all the smoking and he doubts I will get my voice back. Phew. Tough knews to hear. Especially for me cause my absolute favorite thing in the world to do is to talk and talk and talk! My husband's nickname for me is Babble Britches.

I was Diagnosed with COPD in June 2018 with only 39% lung function. Thanks to a new doctor and pulmonary rehab I am doing better than I could every imagine. I go to rehab 2 times a week and am enrolled in a fitness class 2 days a week. Yesterday I was able to do 20 minutes nonstop on the elliptical. I've been on Weight Watchers and although it has been slow I have lost 20 lbs. I've been...
