Has anyone heard of the "pillar procedure"... or better yet had it done? Know anyone who has? I did some research on it and it sounds promising. Three (if I'm remembering correctly) small, flexible but rigid, rods are implanted into the soft palette using a specially designed tool. The purpose is to stiffen the soft palette so it doesn't vibrate during sleep. I saw an online video of the procedure and it takes about one or two minutes and only requires a local anesthetic. I think it's a relatively new technique, but it seems pretty cool, and is supposed to be effective.
