So.....Today I finally received my CPAP machine. After my tests showed that I actually stopped breathing 56 times per hour. And my oxygen level was dropping from approximately 100% down to about 70%. I notice people don't respond a lot on this group. I don't fault anyone, I don't respond to people's posts on here either...I think those of us with IC are so discouraged and in such bad shape that we probably don't have the energy to support others...I know that if I ever found a treatment that worked I would be all over this site posting what worked for me. But to date nothing has ever...
Fortunately, I do not have thrush (knocking on wood now) yet, but I understand that it is very common with steroid use.
As a home remedy, try this - mix 1 tsp of liquid benadryl and 1 tsp of Maalox, then swish it around your mouth, gargle and then spit it out. You can do this several times a day. The benadryl will help to lessen any pain and the Maalox changes the pH balance in your mouth to make it less favorable for the thrush. This works great for any kind of sores inside the mouth, not just thrush.
My mother has frequent cold sores and she swears by moisturizing balm with tea tree oil in it. She does not use abbreva or any of the other typical cold sore brands, she usually gets her lip balm at a local health food store.
I hope that works for you, good luck!
Thank you I will try these methods and god bless your mom too.
