I have just recently been diagnosed with SS. I am scared because I am a new and young mom diagnosed with a disease that is not common at my age. The symptoms that I have had began after giving birth to my daughter, who was diagnosed with Neonatal Lupus (she is how I was diagnosed). I want to be the best mom I can be, but often struggle mustering up the strength to do the the things I need to do. I have had pain in my legs for sometime now. They get really crampy and weak feeling, almost as if I can hardly stand. This symptom has now spread to my arms(it comes and goes). I also get very tired, shaky, dizzy, and light-headed. It really has me scared that something is really wrong. Eventhough they have diagnosed me with this, I can't help but think maybe I have something else that is fatal. I just don't feel right. Unfortunately, I have matched my symptoms to some very serious diseases, like ALS, which has caused me to really freak myself out. I am new to this, so I just want reassurance that I am not the only one who experiences these types of symptoms. Although, I may have some issues with dry eyes and mouth, it is mild compared to the muscle weakness that I battle on a day-to-day basis. I saw a rheumatologist for the first time last week. I have been going to different doctors for months now...having more and more blood taken, and of course I had the lip biopsy too. The rheumotologist drew more blood and I am due to go back in a couple of weeks to follow up. He has discussed putting me on Plaquinil. I am weary taking it, but at this point, I don't know what else I can do. It is such a long and drawn out process! I want to get healthy for my daughter...she, and my whole family are my STRENGTH! If anyone has any advice for me, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!
