Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.

Anyone have a Thanksgiving tradition that you started for your children? Something special that you do each year?
My kids and I create our own table arrangements. Nothing turns out perfect because momma is not an artist....but the kids do some really incredible arrangements. They usually end up helping me.

Thanks for bringing this up. We don't really have any but I need to get on that. When I was small we made this cranberry orange relish that was killer. Very labor intensive. Kept us girls occupied for hours!

I have, my son and I get up and have coffee and donuts and watch all the parades, then we go to my parents or sisters for dinner and watch football. Together, just him and I no one else. I know a lot of people do this, but after 5 years of not having him with me we needed to start something and somewhere.

My family isn't big but we are all involved in the dinner in one way or another, much of the menu is the same as when I was a child and I've added some, like stuffed mushrooms! The cloth napkins are my great grandmothers, this year my son will carve the turkey, he loves power tools, thus the electric knife. I've thought this year we would go around the table saying what we are grateful for, this in addition to a prayer, I'll be saying how grateful I am that I quit smoking! Have a nice Thanksgiving everyone.

It's funny, I have all of these Christmas traditions but no Thanksgiving ones and I have never enjoyed Thanksgiving as much. I am so excited you guys have given me ideas (my kids are 2.5 and 10 months so I have years to "perfect" our table arrangements). Thanks.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
