Single Dads Support Group
This community is dedicated to fathers who are going through the parenting process alone or without the support of a spouse. Single parenthood is often opted for by the parent (as in divorce, adoption, artificial insemination, surrogate motherhood, or extramarital pregnancy), or an unforeseeable occurrence (as in the death of one parent or abandonment by one parent).

OK, my oldest, who's 11, is almost in my opinion afraid to ask his mother a single thing, ever. also, he seems to not want to upset the apple cart for her. he comes to me for everything, even on the days she has them. I tell him he has to talk to his mother about it, but he still comes to me.
how do you instill in the child that its ok to ask either parent.?
also, the thing about school activities, tests, daily things. he comes to me for every and all and I love it, but sucks that his mother can't be moer involved in his life. she's still too damned busy playing house with her boytoy and dress up dolly with my 6yr. girl when we do see her. forget helping my son, with his algebra, or science, or even vocab. I am the only one doing this and its frustrating.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I think all you can do is make sure that you continue to be there for him. I know what you're saying because a kid's relationship with his mom will impact him, but all you can do is be a good role model yourself and perhaps build a new healthy family your son can become a part of.
