Shopping Addiction Support Group
Oniomania (also known as shopping addiction), is the compulsive desire to shop. Similar to other compulsive behaviors, sufferers often experience the highs and lows associated with addiction. The purchase generates a mood of satisfaction, gives their life meaning, and lets them forget about their sorrows.

I have been a compulsive shopper for many years, but only came clean about it to my psychologist and psychiatrist, when it got really bad last year around this time. I have been fighting it on and off all year, and in the last 2 months I have swerved way out in a ditch, and started shopping again. I'm trying to control my urges, but I absolutely CAN'T! I haven't had the guts to tell my husband of my "relapse" (even though I know that he knows..but hasn't "called me" on it.), or my counselor and psychiatrist. I was supposed to see my counselor today and she cancelled this morning. I don't know whether or not I would have told her and that really scares me, and I feel like I've really messed up in a HUGE way!!!!!
I am batteling two addictions. Shopping and food. Thank God there are more communities on here!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I hear you people since joining here I decided to complete all my layby's and go cold turkey only to discover I have that many of them! Anyway I am talking it through with my partner(honestly is the best bet) and friends and think I can overcome this. I love shopping but I also would love to have savings. My house mate said if our washing machine was broken for 6 months I would still have clothes left to wear that were clean I have so many of them.
I am getting stronger I can feel it.
I found exercise is a good way of killing the erge! If you work out to the point where you can't shop you feel good.
Good luck,
