i just feel i had to let anyone that is interested know that there is no such thing as a blood test to show positive for shingles. my mom has been put through hell the last three weeks because the idiots at the nursing home thinks that the blood test to see if you have ever had or been exposed to chicken pox is the same as a blood test for shingles. dermatologist explained it to me today. no blood test for shingles. none. zilch. only blood test will show if you have ever had or been exposed to chicken pox does not mean you have tested positive for shingles. when he walked in the room, he didnt even get the door closed, he saw my moms arm and said "that is not shingles, that is hives, an allergic reaction to something and it is probably from being given meds for shingles she should have never been given based on a blood test for chicken pox! biopsy is the ONLY for sure test for shingles, but a TRAINED professional can spot them in an instant. to be sure all bases are covered he did do 3 biopsies, to make sure. please, dont take risks, see dermatologist if you think you have shingles, my mom is covered with hives and miserable due to someone thinking they knew what shingles look like!
