i have not been diagnosed with anything but last week i started getting that itchy lip thing and ive been using anti-cold sore stuff ever since so i havent gotten any but it seems like i would have and now my lips are a little dry and still itchy..is this sounding like herpes? could i have had this for a long time and not known?? i was recently active with a new partner who i havent said anything to yet but i kind of want to just to get it off my chest. should i get tested first so that i dont freak him out. is a blood test better or the other one and how do i know what is herpes 1 or 2 and what are the differences. is one cureable and one not? can anyone suggest the best place to be tested. can i do it at my regular doctor or do i have to go to planned parenthood. i could be overreacting but i just have questions for anyone who might have answers. if i could have had this for a long time how do i even know who gave it to me- im 26 so ive had a series of kisses and partners in my day. also i watched a little girl who had cold sores all the time. couldnt it have come from kissing her. thanks for listening to my rant and being there

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
And just an FYI- if you have oral sex w/ someone and they have gential herpes you can catch it on your mouth area and at that point it would be herpes simplex 1 and cause you cold sores, etc. If someone with a cold sore on their mouth had oral sex w/ you , you could very well catch it 'down there' and you'd have the genital herpes. i dont think its super common but it can and does happen.
I just read this discussion.
You could of had cold sores your whole life and just started getting them, change in diet, anything.
But seriously-
HSV I- is primarily cold sores on the mouth.
HSV II- is primarily cold sores in the nether region.
Either ONE can be transfered to either part of the body. Hell, it can even be transfered to your hands, or eyes. But it's far less common to happen there. If you have cold sores on your lips- you will not contract HSV I down under. Your body is immune to HSV I now. IF you have HSV II down there though. That's another story. And there is an epidemic of people catching if from people who have HSV I on their mouth and are transferring it to the gentials.
