There are a few things you can try depending on what approach you'd like to take. Conservative/alternative would be meditation or self-hypnosis.
You could also try ambien or other, stronger, things to put you in deep sleep hopefully that is deep enough that this won't happen.
Keep a lamp within reach of the bed that you can turn on without having to move too much.
If it helps, you can sleep with a light on for a little while as well. That way when you wake up, you'll be able to see that you're alone.
Journaling will help. Try to write down the impressions you get of the night terror as soon as you wake up from them, before they're gone.
Night terrors are usually repressed memories trying to come back to the surface. Eventually you'll remember it, and the night terrors will stop for a little while.
the only other advice i can give you is what my father told my when i was a little younger. when being chaced or scared in a dream instead of fighting it or running in the dream. stop and face what every it is that is scaring you and it will go away. that worked also for the the kid monsters that casueed the terror dreams. later that was more difficult to do because my terror dreams in my teens where about devils and demons. that took a little more training at the age I was at. Now when the devil shows up in my dreams i generally have a good laugh with him and wake up laughing. so it worked for me and gave me a lot of relief.
hope this was helpful.
