Well today is my first day here and I thought maybe coming here would make me feel a little less alone. I am working on trying to be ok with my mother and not hate her. I thought when I was younger that the reason my mom let it happen to me. But now that I have my own son, I know that I would NEVER let anyone hurt him. I would give my life for him. So what was so wrong with me, why did she not have that mothering instinct with me. Why would she not want to help me???

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
My mother didn't protect me either. I wish things would have been differant for the both of us.
Please know that this is not your fault and that you did nothing to cause it.
Over the years I have come to realize that it wasn't anything they did wrong. it was more to the point they didn't know the right thing to do. It had nothing to do with how much they loved me or didn't. I concluded that they were and are great parents but they are human first.
I think it is so hard for people to see their parents as human being with all the same short comings and flaws as everyone else.
The fact is parents don't always make the right decisions. they don't always see the issues or they are in denial.
There is nothing wrong with you. In time I hope you find the answeres you seek but perhaps it is time to consider that the answers are not there and what is really is important is how you are going to heal.
we can't change the past but we can change how it affects the rest of our lives.
This where i keep my thinking.
