I have a really hard time with this sometimes. My boyfriend right now knows that I was sexually abused when I was little, but he and I have never really talked about it much. I'd really like to open up about it, especially because it's been on my mind lately. (Nightmares have been flaring up again) The problem is, I have no idea where to start or what to say...and I don't want to drag the past into everything and I don't want to upset him, but I feel like this is something we should talk about. I can't help but feel guilty whenever the subject is sort of approached. But for openness and honesty in our relationship (I can't mess this one up!!!) I think we should really talk about it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Tell him that he may not like what he hears but you need to talk it through.
Talk when you can both give it your attention 100% not in a hurry to do something else.
Tell him how much he means to you and that is the reason that you want to tell him about your troubled past.
Tell him that you are not after his sympathy but that he needs to understand why you may do certain things or flinch when he does certain things.
If you can tell him what triggers you it will help him to avoid these triggers.
Good Luck
Talk with him and not him and maybe a little at time.
counseling for yourself could be the best advise becuase your situation is not uncommon and a counselor could better advise as to how to work with your boyfriend to help him grow and work thru the pain with you.
good luck. AND REMEMBER I AM NOT A COUNSELOR AND THIS MAY NOT BE THE BEST ADVISE FOR YOUR SITUATION.
BE STRONG.
