At 23 I never thought I would sit here and be haunted by sexual abuse that occurred 13 years ago. My grandfather used to touch me, I never told anyone until about 3 weeks ago, I told my boyfriend, who has been nothing but supportive. But every since that minute I told him, I've been having nightmares, flashbacks of different times...Whats the next step?

i would segest u talk about it or get some sort of theripy, but only if u feel u need it or are ready, dont push yourself too far with anything take it in ur own time,

It is wonderful that you have a supportive boyfriend. From experience, I know the flashbacks and nightmares can be hell and can affect intimate relationships. I understand this coming on now. Once I confronted my abuse, the flashback and nightmares were a lot worse. If things get too severe, there is medicine to help called Propranolol (Inderal). It has helped my flashbacks, nightmares, and mood swings tremendously. But, it's not for everyone and therapy might really benefit you, but honestly it didn't help me much. Only you know what is right for you.

i to was abused by both my grandparents and many years later im reliving everything as if it stil happening.i have flashbacks,hallusinations bad dreams ,and i trigger easly if im touched wrong or someone uses a wrong word to me,my husband is very supportive but its good to talk with someone that has been through it get in touch with me please lynne xx

I agree with JJ. You should go talk to a professional counselor. It will help a lot.

I would suggest you keep talking and opening up. If you think you need therepy then by all means you should consider it. The first step are ussally the most difficult.

I'm not sure if opening up has helped me at all.
Now I feel as if people look at me differently. I've been told it's not my fault but I don't take advice seriously since I trust hardly no one.
More than anything I hate being labeled the "victim".
This does nothing for my self-esteem.
I already have a self destructive and negative personality. Being the victim only fuels that fire.

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
