Question for anyone who has been there: Is it easier for addicts to open up when they are at an individual meeting? Would they be able to be honest at a couples meeting? Are there some meetings like this where the spouse goes along? Or would it be better to ask my spouse to go to a meeting by himself. Do people actually open up at these things, or do they just go to make their wives happy?

I am not aware of too many couples' groups for SA. My wife and I do an informal discussion group through Shoutlife for couples who are willing to work through recovery from SA together. In my opinion, if a couple can do this together, the relationship will be much stronger in the end. But it takes a lot of work separate and together to get there. If you're interested, message me for more details.
Most addicts find it incredibly hard to open up in a group setting, unless they are ready to move forward. However, if he is willing to open up to a group, then I believe that he would be more likely to be honest, since there is more accountability in a group invironment.
