It is very hard. My mother is the same way. I think so many of us have an addict in our midst. We love them so, yet we hate their behavior more than so many things.
I am sorry to here. Your six words have so much hurt resonating between their syllables deep within your heart. I will keep you in my thoughts. Love in a tight bond, hard to break. I recommend prayer and a strong network of friends and a good church. Don't hide this from people. If you bottle up such a big truth as a "family secret" it will tear you apart.
